A 45-year-old ex-convict has been remanded into prison custody for allegedly raping and murdering a 17-year-old girl in Agona Nkwanta in the Western Region.

The suspect, identified as Kudjo Ntow, was arrested by the Agona Nkwanta District Police Command following an intelligence-led operation after he allegedly went into hiding.

According to the Western Regional Police Command in a release on Thursday June 4, 2026, the incident occurred on June 1, 2026. Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect allegedly sealed the victim’s mouth with super glue, forcibly raped her and later killed her.

Police said the victim, Olivia Kwofie, was found in distress by a passerby, Samuel Kingsford Kwofie, at about 3:30 a.m. near the School B area, close to the Fire Service Station at Agona Nkwanta.

Samuel Kingsford Kwofie, who was on his way to his rubber plantation, reportedly heard cries for help and rushed to the scene. There, he found the 17-year-old sitting naked on the ground with her hands and legs tied with rope.

After freeing the victim, he attempted to escort her to the police station. However, police said the suspect suddenly attacked them from behind, hitting the teenager with a cement block before fleeing the scene.

Officers who responded to the incident found Olivia Kwofie lying in a pool of blood with multiple cuts on her face. She was rushed to the Agona Nkwanta Polyclinic for medical attention but was later pronounced dead.

The Western Regional Police Intelligence Team, working together with officers from the Agona Nkwanta District Police Command, tracked the suspect to a hideout in Nsuaem, where he was arrested on June 2.

Kudjo Ntow was subsequently arraigned before the Appollo Circuit Court in Takoradi on June 3. The court remanded him into prison custody and adjourned the case to June 17, 2026.

Police say investigations are continuing as they work to secure justice for the deceased teenager.
