The Upper West Regional Police Command has arrested two suspected robbers and recovered a stolen motorbike following a robbery attack along the Tumu–Kowie road in the Sissala East District.
The suspects, identified as Seidu Muizu, 20, and Salifu Mutada, 22, were arrested in connection with a robbery incident that occurred on May 30, 2026, during which three individuals were allegedly attacked at gunpoint and dispossessed of an unregistered Apsonic motorbike.
According to a press release issued by the Police Command on Monday June 1, 2026, preliminary investigations indicate that the two suspects carried out the robbery before fleeing with the stolen motorcycle.
Acting on intelligence gathered after the incident, police launched an operation that led to the successful arrest of the suspects and the recovery of the stolen motorbike.
The police further disclosed that ongoing investigations resulted in the retrieval of another unregistered motorbike, identified as a Loujia model, which investigators suspect may have been used in the commission of the crime. Both motorcycles have since been impounded as exhibits to aid further investigations.
Authorities say the arrests mark a significant breakthrough in efforts to address a recent wave of robbery incidents that have caused concern among residents of Tumu and nearby communities.
Information gathered by investigators suggests that the two suspects may be linked to a series of robbery activities that have reportedly terrorized residents in the area in recent weeks.
As a result, police have expanded their investigations to establish whether the suspects were involved in other criminal cases reported within the district and its surrounding communities.
The suspects are currently being held in police custody and are assisting investigators with ongoing inquiries. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to recover the firearm allegedly used during the robbery attack.
The Upper West Regional Police Command has praised members of the public for their cooperation and support, noting that community involvement remains crucial in the fight against crime.
The Command encouraged residents to continue sharing credible and timely information with security agencies to help improve public safety and assist law enforcement operations.
Police say investigations remain ongoing, and additional arrests could be made if further evidence emerges.
