The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has assured Ghanaians that electricity supply across the country has remained largely stable amid ongoing reforms in the energy sector.
Mr. Jinapor made the remarks after accompanying President John Dramani Mahama on the Savannah Regional leg of the #ResettingGhanaTour, where the President engaged citizens and key stakeholders on national development issues.
According to the minister, government is implementing strategic measures aimed at strengthening energy security, expanding access to electricity, and promoting sustainable national development.
“I also highlighted that power supply across the country has remained largely stable, reflecting ongoing efforts to strengthen and modernise the energy sector,” Mr. Jinapor stated.
He said the engagements also provided an opportunity to brief residents on major government policies, programmes, and reforms within the petroleum, power, and renewable energy sectors.
Touching on the petroleum industry, Mr. Jinapor acknowledged that Ghana’s upstream sector has experienced several years of declining production. However, he noted that government is pursuing strategic reforms, renewed partnerships, and targeted investments to reverse the trend and restore long-term growth.
“In the upstream petroleum industry, we are actively addressing the several years’ decline in production through strategic reforms, renewed partnerships, and targeted investments aimed at restoring growth and long-term sustainability,” he added.
Mr. Jinapor stressed that the administration remains committed to building a resilient energy sector capable of supporting economic transformation and improving livelihoods across the country.
The #ResettingGhanaTour forms part of President Mahama’s nationwide engagements aimed at outlining government’s development agenda and interacting directly with citizens on key national issues.
