A member of Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team has criticized former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as having failed to deliver on promises to transform Ghana’s economy.

In an interview on Morning Target with Bright Nana Amfoh, Ernest Gwumah said Bawumia “was sold to the NPP as coming to transform our economic fortunes.”

“When you came in, you said the dollar was weak and you were going to fix the dollar,” Gwumah said.

He added that Kennedy Agyapong himself had suffered from what he called economic mismanagement  under Bawumia’s leadership as head of the Economic Management Team. “Ken had a personal encounter when he went to the bank and realized that his money that he saved, which was supposed to be tailored for some business, the same amount of money when he was about to transfer had reduced by half,” he noted.

According to Gwumah, Agyapong told the party that Bawumia did not deliver on his mandate.

“This is not good. The economic messiah couldn’t do what he was supposed to do. That was his job. You failed in your duty,” he said.

Gwumah also dismissed claims from Bawumia’s supporters that the former vice president was not allowed to perform his role. He argued such claims were made to cover up failures, while successes under previous regimes were quickly attributed to Bawumia
