A suspected livestock thief has been lynched and another arrested following a violent incident in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, after two individuals allegedly stole six goats and six sheep from the Esaso community. According to eyewitness accounts, the suspects, traveling in a Pregio commercial vehicle, were intercepted by residents after a high-speed chase through several nearby towns.

The chase ended in Marban, where an irate mob apprehended one of the suspects and fatally assaulted him before setting the vehicle ablaze. The second suspect managed to escape initially but was later arrested by police.

Law enforcement officials at Adankwame confirmed that the stolen animals have been recovered and that investigations are currently underway.

Police have condemned the act of mob justice and are urging the public to report crimes to the appropriate authorities rather than taking the law into their own hands.
