Last Saturday, Independence Square was on fire as ShattaFest, the brainchild of Ghana’s Dancehall king, Shatta Wale, delivered what could easily be one of the most unforgettable starts to the festive calendar.
In true Shatta fashion, his birthday bash became a citywide street celebration, pulling in thousands of fans from every corner of Accra and beyond—proof once again that no one throws a party quite like him.
The Street Crown crooner once again demonstrated his ability to draw massive crowds, as fans thronged Independence Square from Saturday night into Sunday morning for an unforgettable concert.
Shatta Wale’s influence was on full display, attracting thousands who sang, waved, and danced through the night. The event featured high-energy performances from leading Ghanaian artists including Samini, Sarkodie, King Promise, Medikal, Wendy Shay, and Amerado.
Additional acts such as Jupitar, Article Wan, Kelvynboy, JZyNO, Kweku Flick, and Patapaa also entertained the packed audience.
Shatta Wale added a romantic touch to ShattaFest 2025, sharing a warm moment with his partner, Maali, before delivering a powerful performance.
The event’s organization was exceptional, with meticulous planning translating into a sold-out crowd at Independence Square. Despite being a free show, ShattaFest drew thousands — a testament to Shatta Wale’s unmatched fan appeal.
Partnering with MTN MoMo Ghana Ltd, the Dancehall star proved once again that the creative arts are a valuable space for corporate investment.
The night also saw emotional highlights, including Shatta Wale’s tribute to industry veteran Tinny and the surprise joint appearance of Samini and Sarkodie — a moment of reconciliation that sent fans into a frenzy.
Then came one of the night’s more unexpected moments — Shatta Wale calling Peller and Big Jiggy, two known rivals, to the stage to make peace. The gesture drew loud applause and reminded everyone of Shatta’s power to unite.
But not everything went smoothly. Like most massive outdoor shows, ShattaFest had its tense moments, with reports of pepper spray, petty theft, and pockets of crowd congestion emerging as the night unfolded.
