The Assembly will soon start a 24-hour citywide cleaning campaign, according to the Accra mayor. He urged other companies to support the city’s vision and stated that the Borla Macho III tricycle, manufactured by Anointed Engineering Services Ltd., will be an essential operational tool.

When the Ghanaian electro-mechanical engineering company Anointed Engineering Services Ltd., which specializes in Perkins Diesel Generators, donated a “Borla Macho III” tricycle to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) in support of the city’s sanitation improvement initiative, the mayor made this statement.

The company claims that the donation, which was made on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the forecourt of the AMA Head Office near Kinbu, is a component of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs that support sustainable development and environmental hygiene in Accra.

The tricycle is a “game changer” in waste management, especially in remote parts of the city, according to Mr. Samuel Adjei Boateng, Managing Director of Anointed Engineering Services Limited, who spoke at the event.

“This morning, we are here not to sell a generator but to donate our special product, the Borla Macho III, to the AMA… It’s a one-man-operated tricycle with a hydraulic system that lifts and empties bins, compresses waste internally, and tips at dumping sites without manual contact. It’s the perfect tool for urban sanitation, and we believe, as the city improves with the vision of the AMA; this product can help bring sanity into our sanitation system,” he said.

Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, the mayor of Accra, has been leading sanitation reforms, which Mr. Boateng praised. He added that the donation was a tribute to his vision of a cleaner capital.

Mayor Allotey, who accepted the donation on behalf of the Assembly, showed sincere gratitude for Anointed Engineering Services’ assistance and emphasized how the donation would affect continuing sanitation efforts.

“First, we’re very grateful to Anointed Engineering for thinking about the AMA… There’s so much work to do on the streets, and this will go a long way to help the ladies who sweep daily. We’re grateful to Anointed Engineering, and as we have started with them, I hope and pray that this union will continue. This is just the beginning; there are bigger and better things ahead”,

He added that “This will help us so much because we’re about to start the 24-hour cleanup, and this is just a starting point. We will engage them further to explore how we can help them produce more of these machines,” he stated.

“We’re calling on Corporate Ghana to come on board. Cleaning Accra is not a one-man job; it’s not only Anointed Engineering that can help. We need everyone to come on board so that this reset we’ve started in Accra can continue. God bless you and bless Anointed Engineering,” he added.

The Borla Macho III tricycle’s operational advantages over conventional waste collection methods were explained by Ing. Solomon Noi, AMA’s Director of Waste Management.

He also emphasized that the tricycle would be especially helpful in low-income and densely populated urban communities where accessibility is a problem.

“This machine has a 5-cubic meter volume capacity, about 2 metric tons per trip … It’s equipped with a 240-litre and 120-litre bin system that can lift, and discharge waste hydraulically and also compress it, reducing the need for multiple trips and minimizing physical contact with refuse… We’re doing this to reduce contact with waste, improve hygiene, and increase coverage… If this pilot proves successful, we will recommend scaling it up across the three sub-metros and other municipal assemblies,” he explained.
