The customary ban on drumming and making noise will be lifted today, Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Gbese Blohum and Abola in the Ga State.

The Accra Regional Police Command has strongly warned against using live ammunition during this event.

The Command voiced concern in a statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs, about new developments in which some people, particularly young people, have opted to use live ammunition instead of the more conventional gunpowder or blank rounds used in musketry.

In cooperation with the Gbese Mantse, the police issued a warning to participants that live ammunition should not be used during this year’s ceremony.

The statement emphasized that anyone found to be in violation of this directive will be taken into custody and face legal action.

To guarantee a calm and incident-free celebration, the Command stated that it is collaborating closely with traditional leaders and event planners.

“The Police, in collaboration with the Gbese Mantse, are cautioning all celebrants to strictly refrain from the use of live ammunition during this year’s ceremony. Any individual found engaging in such acts will be arrested and prosecuted by the law. The Command is working closely with traditional authorities and event organizers to ensure a peaceful and incident-free celebration,” the statement read.

Residents and attendees were advised by the police to observe all safety precautions, assist the police officers assigned to the event, and report any suspicious or illegal activity by calling the emergency numbers 18555 or 112.

As they commemorate this significant cultural occasion, the police also send their best wishes to the residents of Ga State.
