The Accra Regional Police Command has clarified that no arrests have been made in connection with the fire outbreak at the Accra Central Police Barracks, contrary to earlier reports suggesting otherwise.
In a press release issued on Thursday, June 4, 2026, the Command stated that investigations into the incident are still ongoing and that no individual has been apprehended at this stage.
Injured Firefighter Stable
The police also disclosed that a fire officer who sustained injuries while responding to the blaze is receiving treatment at the Police Hospital and is in stable condition.
According to the statement, there have been no reported fatalities resulting from the incident. Authorities further noted that the cause of the fire has not yet been established.
Ghana Police Service commends Ghana National Fire Service
The Accra Regional Police Command commended the efforts of personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and other officers who assisted in bringing the situation under control and ensuring public safety at the scene.
The Command assured the public that updates would be provided as investigations progress and more information becomes available.
The fire, which broke out at the Accra Central Police Barracks, prompted a major emergency response as firefighters worked to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures. Investigations are expected to determine the origin and cause of the incident.
