INTERPOL has removed the red notice it issued against former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
The notice, requested earlier this year by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), came after Ofori-Atta was declared a fugitive, despite facing no charges at the time.
The removal follows investigations into the circumstances of the OSP’s request, which Ofori-Atta’s lawyers had challenged as a breach of INTERPOL rules.
INTERPOL initially issued the notice on June 5, 2025, but took it down on November 18, 2025, after the OSP formally filed charges.
Ofori-Atta’s family welcomed the development, saying it shifts the focus from media headlines to the courtroom. They criticized the OSP for what they described as misuse of INTERPOL’s system.
A Red Notice is a request for law enforcement worldwide to locate a person pending legal action, but it is not an international arrest warrant.
