The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) is set to introduce a new digital platform aimed at transforming fire safety compliance and certification processes across the country.
According to the Service, the Automated Fire Compliance and Safety System (AFCAS) is designed to simplify fire safety certification, improve compliance monitoring, reduce administrative delays, enhance transparency and strengthen overall service delivery.
The announcement, made through the GNFS’s official communication channels on Thursday June 18, 2026, signals a major step in the Service’s ongoing digital transformation agenda.
The initiative is expected to streamline interactions between the Fire Service, businesses, institutions and property owners seeking fire safety certification and compliance approvals.
Fire safety certification remains a critical requirement for many commercial, industrial and public facilities in Ghana. However, manual processes have often been associated with lengthy procedures, paperwork and delays.
The introduction of AFCAS is expected to address these challenges by providing a more efficient and technology-driven system that allows users to access services seamlessly.
The GNFS indicated that the platform will not only improve the speed and efficiency of certification processes but will also strengthen monitoring mechanisms to ensure that facilities comply with established fire safety regulations.
By digitising key operations, the Service hopes to improve accountability and transparency while reducing opportunities for administrative bottlenecks.
The Service described AFCAS as a significant innovation that will enhance fire prevention efforts nationwide. Improved compliance monitoring is expected to help identify safety gaps early and ensure that businesses and institutions maintain the required standards to protect lives and property.
The launch of AFCAS forms part of broader efforts by public institutions to leverage technology in improving service delivery and public sector efficiency.
The GNFS believes the platform will make fire safety services more accessible while supporting its mission of promoting fire prevention and safeguarding communities.
Although details regarding the official rollout date and operational guidelines are yet to be announced, the Service has begun creating awareness about the platform with the message: “AFCAS is here to ensure safety compliance.”
The upcoming launch is expected to mark a new chapter in Ghana’s fire safety administration, as authorities seek to harness digital solutions to improve regulatory compliance and strengthen public safety across the country.
