Former Education Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has emphasized the importance of continuity in education policy reforms in Ghana, following his participation at the Education World Forum (EWF).
In a social media post on Wednesday May 20,2026, he said one of the key moments for him was engaging with a delegation from Ghana’s Ministry of Education, led by current Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu.
He noted that discussions at the forum reflected ongoing efforts to sustain and strengthen key reforms in Ghana’s education sector.
He observed that several policy directions and strategic priorities introduced in previous years continue to receive attention, particularly in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), which remains a central focus of education reforms.
According to him, TVET is critical for equipping young people with practical skills that align with labour market demands and national development goals.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh stressed that meaningful educational transformation requires consistency across different administrations, supported by innovation and a unified national vision.
He added that sustained collaboration among policymakers is essential to ensuring long-term impact in the sector.
The Education World Forum, one of the largest global gatherings of education ministers and stakeholders, provides a platform for sharing ideas on education policy, reform strategies, and best practices from around the world.
He concluded by expressing optimism about the future of education in Ghana, noting that the country’s active participation in such global engagements demonstrates its commitment to improving learning outcomes and strengthening its education system.
