As investigations into allegations that he was beaten by police officers in March continue, renowned Ghanaian visual artist Ibrahim Mahama is meeting with the Police Management Board.
One of Ghana’s top visual artists, Ibrahim Mahama, is currently in front of the Police Management Board due to claims that he was beaten by police officers.
Members of the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Operations Team, also referred to as the “Black Maria,” are allegedly involved in the alleged event, which is believed to have occurred on March 21.
Abdul Bawa Jalil’s team, meanwhile, has insisted that its policemen were not involved in the incident and denied any involvement.
The Police Professional Standards Bureau, the internal organization in charge of looking into wrongdoing within the Ghana Police Service, has been notified of the issue.
Ibrahim Mahama and the Northern Regional Police Commander have been invited to Accra by the Inspector-General of Police to make statements and support the investigation in order to guarantee a comprehensive inquiry.
It is anticipated that the meeting with the Police Management Board will clarify the circumstances underlying the claims and assist in determining whether any wrongdoing took place.
Given the artist’s popularity and the gravity of the allegations, the matter has garnered a lot of public attention, and many have called for an open investigation.
The public has received assurances from police authorities that information will be given as the investigation progresses.
