A major healthcare support initiative for the education sector in the Asuogyaman District officially begins today, with the rollout of free National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration and renewal for students and school staff across the district.
The intervention, announced by Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman, Thomas Ampem Nyarko through his official social media platforms, seeks to improve access to healthcare services while easing the financial burden on members of the academic community.
The exercise will benefit all Senior High School students, teachers, and non-teaching staff within the district’s six secondary institutions.
According to the announcement, the initiative forms part of broader efforts to promote quality healthcare delivery and strengthen the welfare of students and education workers.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to promoting quality healthcare and supporting education by ensuring that every student and school worker has access to essential health services without financial difficulty,” the statement noted.
The programme is expected to contribute to healthier learning environments and stronger communities by ensuring uninterrupted access to primary healthcare services.
Stakeholders within the district have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that prioritises the well-being of both students and school personnel while supporting educational development in the area.
