Bernard Monah, Leader of the People’s National Convention (PNC), has criticized the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) choice of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as its 2028 presidential flagbearer, claiming it signals a potential defeat for the party in the general elections.

Speaking on Atinka TV’s Ghana Nie show, Mr. Monah said, “Choosing Dr. Bawumia makes it obvious that the NPP has bargained for a defeat in the 2028 general elections.”

He further asserted that elections should not be influenced by religious beliefs or spirituality, adding that some religious leaders in Ghana appear to be “suffering from high fever” and require urgent treatment.

Monah’s comments highlight ongoing debates in the country about the intersection of politics and religion, and the influence of spiritual leaders on voter preferences.
