That was the clarion call to government and policy makers as innovators, educators, and key stakeholders in Ghana’s education and technology ecosystem converged in Accra to launch Learnairium, a digital learning platform aimed at closing the technology gap among school across the country.

The platform integrates AI-powered educational tools, interactive debate forums, and hands on resources to equip students with the skills and mindset needed in a rapidly changing world. But the conversation did not  stop at student learning; it turned sharply toward the critical role of teachers as various speakers at the event emphasized the urgent need to equip Ghanaian educators with 21st-century digital skills, calling on government to prioritize teacher training in tandem with student support. Without well-prepared educators, they warned, digital transformation risks leaving teachers and entire classrooms behind.

Richard Osei-Anim, Managing Director of Coral Reef Innovation Africa, welcomed Learnairium as a step towards inclusive future education in Ghana, citing positive outcomes already seen across over 700 schools in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service.

Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel George praised the innovation and reaffirmed the government’s support for strategic partnerships that ensure no child is left behind in the digital age.

Adding nuance to conversations around children and technology, the Founder of Child Online Africa, Awo Aidam Amenyah challenged the conventional understanding of screen time.
The concern, she argued, arises not from the use of screens themselves but from the absence of meaningful, learning-driven content. It’s the intention behind screen engagement that truly defines its value.
