The Entrance University of Health Sciences (EUHS) School of Pharmacy has held its 4th White Coat Ceremony, officially ushering 41 Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) students into the clinical phase of their training.

Held under the theme “From Knowledge to Care: Shaping the Future Pharmacist,” the ceremony marked the students’ transition from pre-clinical classroom instruction to hands-on clinical practice in healthcare facilities.

As part of the event, the students were formally robed in white laboratory coats by faculty mentors and took a professional oath, pledging to uphold ethical pharmaceutical practice, prioritise patient safety, and contribute to quality healthcare delivery.

Delivering the keynote address, the Dean of the School of Pharmacy at the University of Ghana, Professor Irene Kretchy, encouraged the students to remain diligent, professional, and detail-oriented in the discharge of their responsibilities, emphasising that their actions would have a direct impact on patient health and safety.

The President of Entrance University of Health Sciences, Professor Aaron Lante Lawson, also charged the students to uphold the highest standards of integrity, compassion, and professionalism as they begin their clinical training, reminding them that the white coat symbolises responsibility, service, and trust.

 

Some of the students expressed excitement and gratitude as they embarked on the next phase of their academic and professional journey, describing the occasion as a significant milestone in their pursuit of becoming pharmacists.

In support of healthcare education, Naa Adasey Omanyesane III, Queen Mother of Nungua Opkegono, donated more than 500 health-related books to the university. The donation is expected to strengthen the institution’s academic resources and benefit both current and future generations of students.
