Management of Bills Micro-Credit Limited has announced an internal investigation following a viral video circulating on social media showing an altercation between some of its field officers and a woman carrying a child.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, the company described the incident as a matter of serious concern and said it is working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the event.
According to the statement, the video appears to show the woman attempting to retrieve a mobile phone from one of the officers while holding a baby. During the struggle, she reportedly fell while trying to take the device.
“The situation is deeply regrettable, and management has immediately initiated a full internal investigation to establish the complete facts surrounding the incident,” the company said.
