On October 21, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama will formally introduce the Gomoa Central Special Economic Zone (GCSEZ), a $1.5 billion economic project that is anticipated to generate 60,000 jobs.

With its 21,000 acres, the Gomoa Central Special Economic Zone (GCSEZ) reimagines sustainable development and establishes Gomoa Central as a leader in Africa’s economic revolution.

A significant step in achieving Ghana’s 24-hour economic ambition, the project is co-managed by the Gomoa Central Development Trust and backed by the Ghana Free Zones Authority.

His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, the Right Honourable Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, Mr. Goosie Tanoh, the Presidential Advisor on the 24-hour economy initiative, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, the President of the Ghana Journalists Association, traditional authorities, and foreign investors will all be present at the unveiling, which will be led by Kwame Asare Obeng, Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central.

“What we’re building in Gomoa Central isn’t just another industrial park,” This is a complete ecosystem that proves sustainability and profitability can thrive together. We’re creating a model that Africa has never seen before, one that our children will be proud of and that will inspire similar developments across the continent.” Hon. Kwame Asare Obeng stated.

At the heart of the GCSEZ are five ambitious pillars: a 24-hour business district for 10,000 enterprises, a nature-themed park set to welcome one million annual visitors, sustainable farmlands stretching 2,100 acres, an eco-industrial hub for 200 factories, and a renewable-powered crypto mining site projected to rake in over $100 million a year.

A Plus explained that beyond its infrastructure, the zone will become a trailblazer in AfCFTA’s digital economy, using blockchain technology to process transactions among 54 African nations. The project hopes to capture 30% of AfCFTA trade by 2030, boosting Ghana’s GDP by $1.5 billion.

“We’ve spent years planning this, Every element has been carefully designed to work together. Our renewable energy infrastructure will provide some of the lowest operational costs in the region. Our location gives us access to multiple ports and direct links to the Lagos-Abidjan Corridor. And our commitment to sustainability means we’re building something that will benefit generations to come.” Kwame Asare Obeng added.

The Gomoa Central Development Trust has obtained secure, long-term leases on documented industrial land, removing the legal risks that often delay major developments.

“This project represents the future we’ve been working towards, It’s about more than job creation, though we expect to create 60,000 direct and indirect jobs. It’s about showing that Ghana can lead Africa into a new era of green industrialisation, digital innovation, and inclusive prosperity.” Kwame Asare Obeng continued.

Planned features include nearby worker housing and a youth training programme to develop one million digital coders. The pre-launch event will highlight investment opportunities, infrastructure plans, and the vision behind the project.
