To win the 2025 Gbese Mantse Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium, Accra Hearts of Oak defeated Kpando Heart of Lions 2-0 thanks to two goals in four minutes of the first half.

The Phobian Club won the preseason match and took home the trophy thanks to goals from Frank Duku in the 36th minute and Hamza Issah in the 40th.

Duku, who recently joined from Vision FC, opened the scoring with a close-range free kick in the 36th minute. It was Duku’s first goal since joining Hearts.

Mas-Ud Dramani’s team put on a strong show, and Issah added the second goal a few minutes later after Duku set him up in a counterattack and had him lob the ball past the Lions’ custodian.

In the game, which featured Gbese Mantse Nii Ayi-Bonte II, National Sports Authority Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, and Hearts of Oak Board Member Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, the Lions performed better in the second half. Still, they were unable to overcome Hearts’ defence.

On August 29, Hearts of Oak will play the Democracy Cup against city rivals Accra Great Olympics.
