In a landmark ceremony at its School of Medicine campus in Accra, the Entrance University of Health Sciences (EUHS), a subsidiary of the Tobinco Group, officially inaugurated four major faculties and a cutting-edge Dental Hospital, marking what many hailed as a new era in medical education on the African continent.
Held under the theme “Training the Next Generation of Health Professionals,” the event unveiled the School of Medicine, School of Pharmacy, School of Dentistry, and School of Nursing, alongside a state-of-the-art Dental Hospital. The launch attracted 32 high-level officials from 13 African countries, including ministers of health, policymakers, and global healthcare leaders.
University President, Professor Aaron Lante Lawson, described the occasion as “a bold investment in Africa’s health future”, positioning EUHS not merely as an academic institution but as a movement for change, designed to produce highly skilled healthcare professionals capable of innovating, delivering compassionate care, and transforming communities.
Founder and Chancellor, Nana Samuel Amo Tobbin, expressed heartfelt gratitude to stakeholders and reaffirmed his vision of building a world-class medical institution that would not only serve Ghana but also reshape healthcare delivery across Africa.
Minister of Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, applauded the initiative as both timely and critical, noting its alignment with Ghana’s long-term strategy to respond to the rising demand for skilled healthcare workers.
The ceremony’s Special Guest of Honour, Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, commended the Tobinco Group for its unwavering commitment to national development. She reaffirmed the government’s support for initiatives that enhance health infrastructure, elevate professional training, and promote educational excellence.
The establishment of EUHS aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s 24-hour economy agenda and Big Push initiative, signifying Ghana’s strategic positioning as a regional hub for health sciences. By integrating theory, research, and hands-on clinical training, EUHS is poised to deliver real-world healthcare solutions that will leave a lasting impact on future generations, both within Ghana and across the broader African continent.
