Ghana Prisons Service has received a donation of 250 raincoats and 250 sweaters from Awo Boansi Enterprise to support the welfare and operational efficiency of prison officers across the country.
The presentation was made on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at the Prisons Headquarters in Accra during a brief ceremony attended by officers and representatives of the company.
According to the Ghana Prisons Service, the items are intended to assist personnel, particularly officers who work outdoors and in challenging weather conditions, as they carry out their daily responsibilities.
The raincoats and sweaters are also expected to improve comfort and protection for officers during the rainy season and colder periods.
Management of the Ghana Prisons Service expressed appreciation to Awo Boansi Enterprise for the gesture, describing the donation as timely and beneficial to the Service.
Officials noted that such forms of support from the private sector contribute significantly to improving the welfare of personnel and boosting morale within the security service.
The Service further indicated that partnerships and support from corporate institutions remain essential in helping security agencies effectively perform their mandate of maintaining safety, discipline, and rehabilitation within the country’s correctional facilities.
The donation by Awo Boansi Enterprise adds to ongoing collaborations between private organisations and state institutions aimed at strengthening public service delivery and enhancing working conditions for personnel in the security sector.
The Ghana Prisons Service continues to undertake reforms and stakeholder engagements geared toward improving operational standards, officer welfare, and rehabilitation programmes for inmates across the country.
