A 32-year-old enrolled nurse stationed at the Kusasi CHPS Compound in the Sissala West District, Nafisa Adama, has died in a tragic motorbike accident while returning from Gwollu after collecting medical supplies for her health facility.

According to reports, Madam Nafisa Adama had travelled to the district capital to pick up drugs and other essential medical logistics meant for the CHPS compound in Kusali.

She was on her way back to the community around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, when the incident occurred.

The Sissala West District Health Information Officer, Rauf Bawa Basugu, told the Ghana News Agency that the nurse encountered heavy rainfall and strong winds midway through her journey.

In the process, a motor tricycle coming from the opposite direction reportedly lost control in the adverse weather conditions and collided head-on with her motorbike.

She sustained severe injuries and was rushed for emergency medical attention, but she was pronounced dead about an hour after the crash.

Officials say Madam Adama was a mother of two and had just gotten married two weeks prior to the incident.

She was also the only health professional stationed at the Kusasi CHPS Compound, where she had been solely responsible for delivering healthcare services to the community since her transfer in 2023.
