The Citizens Platform on Constitutional Reform, a coalition of about 80 civil society organisations, has expressed concern over the delay in publishing the final report of the Constitutional Review Committee (CRC).
The report was submitted to the President, John Dramani Mahama, in December 2025 and is considered a key document in Ghana’s ongoing constitutional reform process.
Addressing the issue, the Chair of the committee, Akosua Keseboa Darkwa, said the coalition is calling for the immediate publication of the CRC report to ensure transparency and enable public engagement with the proposed reforms.
Among its key demands, the platform is urging the government to publish the CRC report without further delay, establish the Constitutional Review Implementation Committee (CRIC), and announce a clear roadmap outlining the steps toward implementing the recommended reforms.
The coalition is also calling on the government to clearly separate its own views from the CRC’s recommendations and to champion a national conversation on constitutional reform.
The Constitutional Review Committee was tasked with examining the 1992 Constitution of Ghana and proposing amendments aimed at strengthening governance and deepening democratic practice.
As part of its work, the committee conducted extensive stakeholder engagements and public consultations across the country to gather views from citizens and institutions.
The Citizens Platform on Constitutional Reform has therefore urged President Mahama to demonstrate visible leadership in mobilising national support for the reform process, stressing that decisive action is needed to safeguard Ghana’s democracy and support long-term development.
