Economist Kwame Pianim has lauded President John Dramani Mahama for his responsive leadership, declaring him the only leader capable of steering Ghana toward a necessary reset.
During a meeting at Jubilee House on Wednesday, June 11, where the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) paid a courtesy call on the president, Pianim underscored Mahama’s attentiveness to concerns raised by educators. He noted his confidence in Mahama’s ability to act, stating,
“Here we tend to underpay our teachers but with you as a listening president, I was happy when they were coming; they said let’s go and talk to the president — I said with this president if he tells you he is going to do something, he will do it.”
He contrasted Mahama’s leadership with past unmet promises, particularly referencing a pledge to provide 10,000 houses for teachers that never materialized. “Someone told them he was going to give them 10,000 houses, they got zero. “I told them this is a listening president,” Pianim remarked.
The renowned economist also urged Ghanaians across political divides to rally behind Mahama.
“Of the 35-36 million Ghanaians alive, you are the only one who can reset Ghana for us,” he asserted.
He described the current moment as a “historic opportunity for Ghana to get on the right path,” emphasizing Mahama’s unique ability to lead the nation forward.
Kwame Pianim advised the president to govern beyond political pressures.
“You are the right person, you don’t need the voters, you don’t need the party, do the best for Ghana and leave a legacy,”he concluded.
