Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has donated assorted food items to the Muslim community in Cape Coast ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
The donation was presented to the Muslim Council at the Kotokuraba Mosque in the Cape Coast Metropolis. The items were handed over on behalf of John Dramani Mahama and the Vice President by the Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North, Kwamena Mintah Nyarku.
Mr. Nyarku explained that the gesture forms part of the Presidency’s continued tradition of supporting Muslim communities across the country during Ramadan. He noted that similar donations have been made in previous years as a sign of solidarity and appreciation for the prayers and sacrifices of Muslims during the fasting period.
The donated items included bags of rice, cooking oil, Milo, milk, sugar, and bottled water. These are expected to support members of the Muslim community as they observe the fast and offer prayers for peace, good health, and prosperity for Ghana.
Receiving the items, the Head of the Central Regional Zongo Chiefs, Sheikh Muhamudu Danday Massawodje IV, expressed gratitude to the Vice President and the Presidency for the kind gesture. He appealed for continued support throughout the Ramadan period and assured the government of the prayers of the Muslim community.
Sheikh Massawodje IV described Vice President Opoku-Agyemang, a native of the Central Region, as a symbol of hope for the region. He urged residents to rally behind the government’s development agenda to help advance socio-economic progress in the Central Region and the country at large.
The donation comes as Muslims across Ghana prepare to begin the sacred month of fasting, reflection, and spiritual renewal.
