Passengers across the country are set to pay more for intercity travel following a decision by VIP Jeoun Transport to increase its transport fares.
The company announced that the new fares will take effect from Wednesday, April 8, 2026, and will apply to both its standard and executive coach services on all major routes.

Under the revised fare structure, passengers travelling from Accra to Kumasi will now pay higher rates for both standard and executive buses. Fares on longer routes, including services to northern destinations, have also been adjusted upward.
Other key routes affected include journeys from Accra to Sunyani, as well as trips to Tamale, Bolgatanga, and Wa, all of which have seen noticeable increases in ticket prices.

The fare adjustment, which affects dozens of routes nationwide, represents the company’s first major review in nearly two years. A previously planned increment in 2025 was put on hold.
While management has not officially outlined the reasons behind the increment, the move is widely attributed to rising operational costs, particularly fuel prices and maintenance expenses.
The development is expected to place additional financial pressure on commuters and traders who rely heavily on long-distance transport services.
Passengers are being advised to check updated fare lists at VIP terminals before travelling, as the new charges take immediate effect nationwide.
