Actor Mawuli Semevo has passed away at the age of 63 after succumbing to injuries sustained in a fire accident.
He died on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Ridge Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for severe burns.
The incident, which occurred about a week earlier, was first reported on February 8, 2025, by Judith Addison of Beyond Burns International, an organization supporting burn survivors. At the time, Semevo was said to be in critical condition.
Mr Semevo, celebrated for his significant contributions to Ghanaian theatre and film, leaves behind a lasting legacy. His performances in films such as Harvest at 17, A Stab in the Dark, Escape of Love, Like Cotton Twines, and The Good Old Days: The Love of AA have made a profound impact on the country’s entertainment landscape.
Tributes have poured in from colleagues and fans alike, with actor Ken Fiati writing on Facebook, “Rest In Perfect Peace, Senior Mawuli Semevo.”
