The newly launched United Party Plus (UP+), founded by Alan Kyerematen, has promised to bring fresh leadership and unity to Ghana’s politics.

Speaking at the official launch in Accra, National Chairman Hon. Sadick Abubakar Boniface said the party is not based on tribe, religion or region. “This party is not for the East or West. We are at the centre,” he declared. “We want to include everyone and serve all Ghanaians equally.”

A Party with Deep Roots

Chairman Boniface said the UP+ is inspired by the original United Party formed in 1957, which brought together different political groups. He said today’s UP+ brings together experienced leaders from NDC, NPP, CPP, PNC, and others who want to move Ghana forward.

“We have people from all political backgrounds. We are united by our love for Ghana, not party colours,” he said.
A Call for Honest and Competent Leadership
Boniface said Ghana’s main problem is not lack of resources, but lack of honest leadership. “We have gold, oil, lithium, iron and more. But we need leaders who are serious, competent, and God-fearing,” he added.
He promised that UP+ would select credible and capable leaders who will work for the people. “We won’t give leadership positions as rewards. We will choose people who can do the job well,” he stated.

An Open Door Party

Boniface explained that UP+ is a centrist party—focused on balancing economic growth and social development. He said the party will promote private business while protecting the vulnerable.
“We are not here out of anger. We are here because Ghana needs a new direction,” he said. “UP+ is for the youth, for women, and for anyone who wants real change.”

Message to Ghanaians

Chairman Boniface urged Ghanaians to consider UP+ as a true alternative to the NPP and NDC. “We are not here to break anyone’s party. We are here to fix the nation,” he said.
He called on the media and civil society to help spread the message. “Tell the people there is now a party that values inclusion, merit, and service,” he concluded.
As the 2024 elections draw near, the United Party Plus enters the race with a strong message of unity, change, and leadership that puts Ghana first.
