The U.S. Embassy in Accra has released more than 1,000 non‑immigrant visa appointment slots, offering prospective travelers the chance to secure interviews within the next week.
The embassy said a large share of the openings are for B1/B2 visas, which cover business and tourism travel. Applicants with later appointments have been urged to reschedule for earlier dates.
The decision comes as Washington ramps up preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which the U.S. will co‑host with Mexico and Canada. The tournament is expected to drive a sharp increase in travel demand.
In a notice posted Tuesday on Facebook, the embassy said: “There are more than 1,000 B1/B2 visa appointment slots available in the next week one of those could be yours.”
The announcement is aimed at easing months of frustration among Ghanaian travelers who have faced long wait times for interview dates. Applicants were directed to the embassy’s official visa page for requirements and application details
