Due to the poor condition of the Amasaman–Nsawam road, the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC), the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), and other transport unions have cancelled their planned protest.

The groups clarified in a joint statement released on Thursday, August 21, 2025, that the decision comes after the contractor returned to the site to start building on the length.

The government’s action and the fresh commitment to repairing the road, according to the operators, encouraged them after they had previously threatened to go on strike if immediate action was not taken.

“We commend the Government of Ghana and the relevant authorities for their timely intervention, which demonstrates a commitment to resolving the pressing challenges that affect both transport operators and commuters,” the statement said.

To increase road safety and protect people’s lives and property, the transport unions promised commuters and other stakeholders that they would continue to work with the government. Additionally, they promised to assist initiatives aimed at guaranteeing the development of sustainable road infrastructure nationwide.
