As the nation continues to mourn the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of several high-ranking government officials and military personnel, messages of condolence continue to pour in from across the country.

One such heartfelt tribute comes from Torgbi Sape Agbo V, Awaklasuga of the Somey Traditional Area, who expressed deep sorrow over the loss in a message addressed to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama and the Government of Ghana.

“With a heart full of sorrow, I extend my deepest condolences on the tragic loss of our vibrant Ministers of State through the unfortunate air crash,”- the traditional ruler wrote.

Describing the nation as being in “total blackout,” Torgbi Sape Agbo V reflected the mood of grief and disbelief shared by millions of Ghanaians.

“This is a painful moment for all of us — a loss too heavy to bear. Their dedication and service to our nation will never be forgotten.”

The traditional leader concluded his message with a prayer for peace and healing, saying:

“May their souls rest in perfect peace, and may the Lord comfort all grieving families and the entire nation.”

The devastating incident, which occurred on Wednesday, August 6, in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, claimed the lives of five top government officials and three military personnel. The victims were en route to Obuasi for the launch of a cooperative mining initiative when their Ghana Armed Forces helicopter tragically went off radar and later crashed.

President Mahama has since ordered that all national flags be flown at half-mast as the country observes a period of mourning.
