The Executive Chairman of the Tobinco Group of Companies, Elder Dr. Samuel Nana Amo Tobbin, has donated medicines and food items valued at more than $100,000 to conflict-affected communities in South Sudan through the international humanitarian organization, Action for the Protection of Children’s Rights.
The donation forms part of efforts to provide relief to vulnerable populations, particularly children, women and displaced families who continue to face the devastating effects of conflict and limited access to healthcare services in parts of South Sudan.
The items donated included essential medicines, nutritional supplements and relief food products aimed at improving the health and well-being of internally displaced persons and low-income families living in conflict-affected areas.
Presenting the items, Elder Dr. Samuel Nana Amo Tobbin said the initiative was undertaken through the Samuel Amo Tobbin Foundation with the support of the Tobinco Group.
He noted that the donation was intended to address urgent humanitarian needs by providing essential supplies to communities struggling with the impact of war and instability.
He stressed that businesses have a responsibility to contribute to society beyond generating profits, adding that corporate institutions must play an active role in improving the lives of vulnerable people.
According to him, the difficult conditions faced by women, children and other at-risk groups in South Sudan inspired the intervention.
He expressed concern over the challenges many communities face in accessing healthcare, adequate nutrition and other basic necessities due to prolonged conflict in the region.
Elder Dr. Tobbin further called on political and religious leaders to intensify peacebuilding efforts and work towards creating a stable environment where citizens can live in safety, dignity and enjoy their fundamental human rights.
The Action for the Protection of Children’s Rights, an international humanitarian organization dedicated to safeguarding the rights and welfare of children and vulnerable populations, received the donation on behalf of beneficiaries.
Craig Severtson, Founder and President of Helping Kids Round First, expressed gratitude to Elder Dr. Samuel Nana Amo Tobbin for the generous support, describing the donation as a timely intervention that would positively impact the lives of many vulnerable people affected by conflict.
The Samuel Amo Tobbin Foundation has over the years undertaken several humanitarian and social intervention programmes aimed at supporting underserved communities.
Its initiatives focus on assisting widows, prison inmates, children and other marginalized groups through outreach, welfare and empowerment projects.
The latest donation reinforces the Foundation’s commitment to extending humanitarian support beyond Ghana’s borders and contributing to global efforts to alleviate suffering among vulnerable populations.
