The Livingstone Foundation (LIF), led by renowned Ghanaian music icon Stonebwoy, has officially launched the Livingstone Education Fund, a philanthropic initiative aimed at providing financial support to academically gifted yet financially disadvantaged students at GIMPA.
The fund is designed to cover tuition fees and other essential academic costs, marking a structured and sustainable approach to education support under the Livingstone Foundation. During the launch, Stonebwoy described the initiative as a personal mission inspired by his own life experiences, stating:
“I am a victim of numerous circumstances that I had to overcome,” emphasizing how adversity shaped his determination to assist others.
Speaking at the event, Stonebwoy’s wife, Dr. Louisa, highlighted that her husband’s passion for supporting students, particularly through tuition aid, stems from his own educational journey. She explained that the Education Fund has now been formalized into a sustainable system, ensuring its continuity beyond individual acts of generosity.
Dr. Louisa further noted that the initiative would not rely solely on Stonebwoy as a sponsor. Instead, Corporate Ghana and other institutions are onboard to support the fund. She disclosed that Ghandour Cosmetics and Unichem Ghana were the first contributors, marking a promising start for the fund.
The Livingstone Education Fund is more than a scholarship scheme; it is a lifeline, offering long-term educational opportunities for the less privileged. Stonebwoy has been widely praised for transforming his private passion into a lasting legacy that will continue to impact lives for generations.
This initiative represents a new era under the Livingstone Foundation, ensuring that talented students, regardless of financial background, have the opportunity to pursue higher education and achieve their dreams.
