On Saturday, November 15, 2025, the Accra International Conference Center hosted the esteemed 50th SWAG Awards gala, which honored exceptional accomplishments in Ghanaian and international sports.

Benjamin Asare won Male Home-Based Footballer of the Year, and Antoine Semenyo won SWAG Male Footballer of the Year for international players.

SWAG honoured the UDS football team as the Football Personality of the Year, celebrating their strong impact on Ghana football.
Other top winners included Obaponba Adu as Badminton Player of the Year, and Emmanuel Kummey and James Marfo, who shared the Table Tennis Player of the Year award.

The awards also recognised several distinguished athletes, including Fuseinu Issah, adjudged Wrestler of the Year, Vivian Nakor, honoured as Hockey Player of the Year, and Zirnabu Issah, who received the Para Athlete of the Year award.

This broad representation of disciplines underscores the increasing depth and diversity within Ghana’s sporting fraternity.

Yayra Akos Agozi and Michael Agyapong Mensah were honoured as the female and male Discovery of the Year award winners.

Portia Boakye and Yaw Agyemang received the Dedication and Valour honours for their resilience and exceptional devotion to their disciplines.

In a fitting tribute to Ghana’s greatest icons, Asamoah Gyan, Andrew Ayew, Stephen Appiah, Anthony Yeboah and Barisford were presented with Lifetime Achievement Awards, firmly etching their names into the nation’s sporting legacy.

Excellence in sports governance and media was equally acknowledged at the event. Evans Yeboah received the Sports Administrator of the Year honour, and Bill Eshun was recognised as Sports Journalist of the Year.

Among the federations, the Ghana Armwrestling Federation and the Ghana Badminton Federation topped the list. The Police Football Team won the Club of the Year accolade, with James Kwesi Appiah and Daniel Laryea distinguished as Coach of the Year and Referee of the Year.

The golden jubilee of the SWAG Awards showcased the depth and diversity of Ghana’s sporting achievements. In the women’s football categories, Comfort Yeboah was crowned Home-Based Footballer of the Year, with Chantelle Boye Hlorkah earning the Foreign-Based accolade.

The men’s 4×100 metres relay team captured the National Team of the Year title. Legendary figures, including Kwadwo Asamoah, Michael Essien, and Azumah Nelson, were celebrated as SWAG Ambassadors. The event stood out as a vibrant tribute to Ghana’s sports fraternity and a source of inspiration for young athletes.
