Ghana’s Sports Minister, Kofi Adams, has confirmed that the budget for the Black Stars’ two upcoming World Cup qualifiers will be made public. However, he emphasized that the cost of managing the national team is high, especially since many of the players are based in Europe.

Speaking on Accra-based Asempa FM, Adams addressed concerns over why the budgetary allocation was not revealed before the matches, explaining that doing so could have led to unnecessary distractions.

“The team’s budget will be made public. Nothing is hidden from the public, but we must acknowledge that maintaining the national team is costly because the majority of the players are imported from Europe.”

He further elaborated on the timing of the disclosure, noting that the focus should be on the team’s performance rather than financial discussions before crucial matches.

“I kept asking myself what the budget will do for the team before the games, even though people were asking me to reveal the budget for the games. We should consider all the circumstances before making a decision because occasionally, certain circumstances cause the team to become distracted.”
