Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has confirmed his attendance at the launch and balloting ceremony of the University of Ghana Corporate Football League, set for Tuesday, 18 February 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium.
His confirmation follows a visit by officials from the University of Ghana’s Sports & Wellness Directorate and RITE Sports Services, who congratulated him on his appointment and provided an update on the upcoming tournament.
During the meeting, Mr Adams commended the organisers for their innovative approach, highlighting the league’s potential to boost corporate fitness, networking, and recreation.
He assured them of the ministry’s full support, reinforcing the government’s commitment to promoting sports participation at all levels.
The UG Corporate Football League aims to foster teamwork, fitness, and camaraderie among Ghana’s corporate institutions and university colleges.
Scheduled to run for 20 weeks from late February to July 2025, the competition will feature 16 teams from various industries.
The tournament builds on the success of the UG Corporate Football Gala, held in November 2024, which was won by “Union Ghana.”
Matches will take place under the floodlights of the University of Ghana Stadium every Friday night, creating an exciting atmosphere for both players and spectators.
Notable corporate participants include Stanbic Bank, National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Ghana Armed Forces Officers Sports Club, UG Alumni Association, Lancaster Hotel, Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Forestry Commission, Bui Power Authority, and defending champions Union Ghana.
