President John Mahama has charged Ghana’s newly appointed Supreme Court Justices to uphold the sanctity of the bench with wisdom, empathy, and unwavering fidelity to justice.
At a swearing-in ceremony held on Thursday, July 3 at Jubilee House, the President described the judicial robe as not merely a mark of office, but a sacred trust invested by the people.
“today, you inherit the robe of honor and the weight of a nation’s expectations. This robe is not simply a mark of office. It is a public trust. It is a symbol of service, humility and accountability. Wear it with wisdom,” President Mahama said.
The President emphasized the transformative power of judicial leadership grounded in principle rather than personal leanings.
“Speak through your judgments, not your opinions. Show leadership through principle, not preference. Let your legacy be measured in volumes of law reports, the lives you touched, the precedents you set, and the public trust that you preserved,” he urged.
President Mahama urged the new Justices to make the law work for everybody by understanding their real-life challenges and applying the law in ways that truly serve them.
“Interpret the law not just as it is but as it ought to be, alive to context and sensitive to the lived realities of the Ghanaian people,” the President noted.
The ceremony marked the formal induction of seven Supreme Court Justices, vetted and approved through parliament last month, June 2025. Below are their names:
