In an official statement signed by Fernando Riaño — a member of the Executive Committee of the Spanish Paralympic Committee and a candidate for the IPC Governing Board — Spain described President Deen’s stewardship as inspiring, highlighting his steadfast commitment to unity, inclusion, and the empowerment of para-athletes across the continent.

Riaño reaffirmed Spain’s dedication to strengthening cooperation between Europe and Africa, noting that the country remains committed to championing the development of African Paralympic movements as part of its broader global sports agenda.

“From Spain, we remain committed to building bridges between Europe and Africa,” the statement read. “We will advocate for the interests of African nations, reflecting our strong commitment to the Global South.”

The Committee also expressed optimism that President Deen will continue to support Spain in the upcoming IPC elections on November 20, stressing the importance of maintaining strong collaborative ties between the two regions.
