The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has arrested a soldier captured in a viral video physically assaulting two civilians at a pharmacy within Burma Camp in Accra.
According to a statement issued by the Department of Public Relations at the General Headquarters, Burma Camp, the incident occurred on Wednesday, 29 October 2025, and involved a drug store attendant and a female customer.
The disturbing footage, which has been widely circulated on various social media platforms, sparked public outrage and calls for disciplinary action.
The statement, signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin of the Ghana Navy, Acting Director General of Public Relations, confirmed that personnel of the Ghana Military Police apprehended the suspect at dawn on Thursday, 30 October 2025.
“The suspect is currently assisting with investigations into the incident,” the statement said. It further noted that the two victims have received medical attention and are also cooperating with investigators.
The Ghana Armed Forces reiterated its commitment to upholding discipline and professionalism, stressing that it “will not condone any acts of assault on civilians and will not shield any soldier engaged in such misconduct.”
The incident has reignited public debate about military-civilian relations and the need for accountability within the Armed Forces.
