The Police have detained six students from Aggrey Memorial Senior High School after a final-year student of Adisadel College was assaulted and robbed following an inter-colleges sports festival in Cape Coast.
The Central Regional Command said the attack happened Friday, Feb. 20, at Pedu Junction. The victim, Rexford Owusu-Ansah, was stopped by the suspects, who confirmed he was from Adisadel College before beating him. His two companions escaped.
Owusu-Ansah was reportedly kicked to the ground and robbed of an iPhone 17 Pro Max, 1,400 Ghana cedis in cash, and his shoes. School authorities later handed the six juvenile suspects to police at Kotokuraba Station that evening.
The student received initial treatment at the stadium clinic and was referred to Cape Coast Regional Hospital, where doctors confirmed a fractured bone near his right eye. He was discharged Sunday, Feb. 22.
Police said the victim’s friends can identify the attackers. The Central Regional Command condemned the violence and pledged that the suspects will face the full rigors of the law.
