Earlier in 2024, Spotify also recognized the global impact of Ghanaian music, with 30 Ghanaian songs making waves internationally. King Promise’s "Paris" topped the list as Ghana's most popular international hit for the first half of the year

Spotify has included several prominent Ghanaian musicians in its latest “100 Best African Love Songs” playlist, released on February 11, 2025. The playlist highlights the significant contribution of Ghanaian artists to African love music, with songs that resonate deeply with themes of love, passion, and heartbreak.

Among the Ghanaian artists featured are King Promise, Kojo Antwi, Sarkodie, Gyakie, Bisa Kdei, Kuami Eugene, Stonebwoy, and KiDi. These artists have helped solidify Ghana’s place in the creation of timeless love songs.

Notable tracks included in the playlist are Sarkodie’s “Can’t Let You Go,” Gyakie’s “Forever” remix featuring Omah Lay, King Promise’s “Selfish,” KiDi’s “4Life,” Kwesi Arthur’s “Nobody” featuring Mr Eazi, Stonebwoy’s “More of You,” and M.anifest’s “Me Ne Woa.”

Spotify’s data further reveals an interesting trend in listener preferences. In the past three years, Ghanaian men have accounted for 68% of streams for heartbreak music, while women made up 31%. The demand for heartbreak songs has surged, with a staggering 226% increase in streams, particularly around Valentine’s Day.

While many celebrate love during this period, others find solace in music, highlighting a deeper emotional connection with the genre.

In addition to Ghanaian artists, Nigerian musicians also featured prominently, with tracks such as Run Town’s “Mad on You,” Wizkid’s “Piece of my Heart,” Rema’s “Baby (Is it a Crime),” and 2Face’s “If Love is a Crime.”
