The Russian Embassy in Ghana says it has taken note of media reports alleging that a man believed to be Russian engaged in sexual activities with Ghanaian women and secretly recorded the encounters without their consent.

The Embassy did not confirm the identity or nationality of the individual involved, nor did it say whether it has verified the claims or contacted Ghanaian authorities.

In a statement posted Monday on X, formerly Twitter, the Embassy said: “The Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Ghana has taken note of the reports in the Ghanaian media on the alleged involvement of a supposedly Russian citizen engaged in sexual activities with some Ghanaian women and recorded those acts without consent.”

The statement comes amid growing public concern and social media discussions over allegations that a foreign national secretly filmed intimate encounters with multiple women in Ghana and stored or shared the videos.

In recent days, Ghanaian social media platforms and some online outlets have carried claims that a man, believed to be Russian, targeted women for sexual encounters that were allegedly recorded without their knowledge.

The allegations have sparked outrage, with many Ghanaians calling for a thorough investigation and prosecution if the claims are substantiated.  Under Ghanaian law, secretly recording sexual acts without consent is a criminal offense that carries severe penalties, including imprisonment.
