Ghanaian rapper Medikal has declared himself the rightful winner of the Artiste of the Year award at the upcoming Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) 2026.

The rapper made the statement during a live performance at Kumawu on Saturday, where he paused his performance to address fans about the recently released nominations for the awards.

“You know they released the nominations for the TGMA and the Artiste of the Year category,” he told the audience.

“You know Medikal has been working extremely harder than everyone every year. Let’s tell the organisers that this year, no libilibi, no labala.”

The remarks were met with loud cheers from fans who responded enthusiastically during the performance.

Medikal is among the most nominated artistes in this year’s awards scheme, securing more than eight nominations across several categories.

The nominations include Music Video of the Year, Rap Performance of the Year, Hiplife/Hip-Hop Artiste of the Year, Most Popular Song of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, Album/EP of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, and Artiste of the Year.

The awards scheme is organised by Charterhouse Productions and powered by Telecel Ghana. It is widely regarded as one of the biggest platforms recognising excellence in the Ghanaian music industry.

Supporters of the rapper say his consistency, music releases, and performances across the country over the past year make him a strong contender for the top honour.
