President John Dramani Mahama has extended greetings to Muslims in Ghana as they begin the holy month of Ramadan.

In a video released on Friday, Mahama, wished worshippers “a spiritually fulfilling and blessed Ramadan,” describing the period as “a special time; a month of reflection, renewal, and coming together as one community.”

Mahama encouraged Muslims observing the fast to seek purification of the heart and strengthen their faith, while praying for good health, peace of mind, and mercy. He stressed that the essence of Ramadan lies not only in abstaining from food and drink but also in compassion, generosity, and kindness toward the less fortunate.

Calling for unity and peace, the former president urged Ghanaians to use the holy month to deepen bonds across communities. “Let us strengthen the bonds that bind us and deepen our sense of togetherness across our beloved nation,” he said.

Concluding his message, Mahama added: “From my family, we wish you a spiritually fulfilling and blessed Ramadan. Ramadan Mubarak! May Allah accept your worship.”

Muslims across Ghana join millions worldwide in beginning the 30-day fast marked by prayer, reflection, and charity.
