Special Advisor to the Executive Chairman of the Tobinco Group of Companies, Hasmukh Sidhpura, has urged healthcare professionals to always put patients first, regardless of their financial situation.
He made this call during the maiden TMG National Health Dialogue organised by the Tobinco Media Group, which brought together key stakeholders in the health sector.
Mr Sidhpura stressed that doctors, pharmacists, and nurses have a special responsibility because their work directly affects human life. He encouraged doctors to be mindful when prescribing medicines, ensuring that patients – especially those from low-income backgrounds – can afford the treatment given to them.
He noted that healthcare is not like other professions, as it deals with saving lives. According to him, professionals must balance quality and cost, choosing medicines that are both effective and reasonably priced.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Mark Kurt Nawani, Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health, and Samuel Nana Amo Tobbin, Executive Director of the Tobinco Group of Companies.
Mr Sidhpura also touched on the need to strengthen Ghana’s pharmaceutical industry. He encouraged local manufacturers to move beyond packaging imported drugs and begin producing raw materials within the country to ensure self-sufficiency.
The National Health Dialogue aims to serve as a platform for discussing practical solutions to improve healthcare delivery and promote growth in Ghana’s health sector.
