The president also urged all government officials to follow his example, warning that those who fail to declare their assets would face removal from office.

President John Dramani Mahama has officially declared his assets to Ghana’s Auditor-General, marking a significant step in the country’s commitment to accountability.

The declaration, made public on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the Jubilee House, provides a comprehensive record of Mahama’s financial holdings, properties, and other assets, in compliance with Ghana’s Public Office Holders (Declaration of Assets and Disqualification) Act.

In a brief statement, Mr.Mahama underscored the importance of transparency in rebuilding public trust. “In the past, I would privately submit these forms to the Auditor-General to meet my statutory obligation. Today, I have decided to make them public as a means of injecting openness into the asset declaration process,” he said.

He further stressed that while punishing corruption is crucial, preventing it in the first place is a more effective approach. “I firmly believe that if asset declarations are properly implemented and enforced, they can serve as a sustainable tool to combat corruption,” President Mahama added.
