On Friday, October 24, 2025, a High Court condemned Police Inspector Ahmed Twumasi to life in prison for the ruthless murder of his lover, 26-year-old Victoria Dapaah, in a courtroom weighed down by the weight of a life cut short.

A case that has enthralled and appalled the country the terrible story of a trusted officer who used his state-issued firearm against the lady he claimed to love, has come to a somber end with the verdict.

As the judge delivered the punishment, Inspector Twumasi remained still in the courtroom.

He was found guilty by the court of repeatedly shooting Victoria Dapaah, also known as Maadwoa, in the chest and abdomen at close range on April 20, 2023, in Adum, using his service weapon.

The 5–2 jury verdict brought a wave of relief and closure to the family of Maadwoa, who say the life sentence handed to Inspector Ahmed Twumasi represents justice finally served.

Twumasi was arrested on April 23, 2023, just days after he shot and killed Maadwoa in Kumasi on April 20. Police tracked him down to Sekyere, near Effiduase, after launching a special manhunt in the Ashanti Region.

Loved ones described Maadwoa as a vibrant and ambitious young woman, full of dreams that were cut short far too soon.

The ruling, though unable to restore Maadwoa’s life, affirms that no one stands above the law. The defense has one month to appeal the verdict.
