The Director General of the School Placement and Computerized System, Prof. Dennis Davies, has cautioned the public that school placement into Senior High Schools is not for sale, stressing that the 2025 placement process will be strictly based on merit.
Speaking at a press conference organized by the Ministry of Education in Accra, Prof. Davies warned candidates and parents to beware of fraudsters posing as officials of the Ministry, Ghana Education Service (GES), or the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS), who demand money in exchange for school placements.
“Placement is completely free. No one should pay money to anyone claiming they can influence the system. The Ministry has zero tolerance for such fraudulent practices,” – he declared.
He urged the public to report any individuals or groups attempting to extort money under the pretense of facilitating placement to the security agencies immediately.
Transparent and Fair Process
Prof. Davies assured all 2025 BECE candidates and their families that the placement process is being conducted with transparency, fairness, and integrity. According to him, placement will be based on a candidate’s aggregate score from six subjects: English, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Social Studies, and their two best electives.
In cases where candidates have identical aggregates, raw scores will be used to determine final placement rankings.
“Every student will be placed according to merit. There will be no favoritism, no backdoor deals,” – he emphasized.
To ensure that each candidate is placed in a school that matches their preferences, the Ministry has introduced a choice confirmation window from August 27 to September 1, 2025.
During this period, students can verify their school selections and correct any errors related to gender, program, or school choices.
Candidates are advised to visit [www.cssps.gov.gh](http://www.cssps.gov.gh) to complete the confirmation process. An explainer video will also be available on the portal to assist students and parents.
