The Ghana Education Service (GES) has placed Adams Mahama Issahaku, the headmaster of Piina Senior High School in the Upper West Region, on immediate interdiction following allegations of food smuggling.
The decision, made by the Director-General of GES, comes after authorities discovered food items in Mr. Issahaku’s official pick-up vehicle as he was traveling from Piina SHS to Wa on February 6, 2025.
In a letter dated February 7, Razak Z. Abdul-Korah, the Regional Director of GES for Upper West, clarified that the interdiction is a standard procedural measure and does not imply guilt. The GES stressed that a full investigation is underway and promised to keep all stakeholders informed about the findings.
As part of the directive, Mr. Issahaku has been ordered to temporarily hand over control of the school to the Regional Director of Education. He is also expected to fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation and refrain from any actions that could hinder the process.
In a statement, the GES emphasized its commitment to transparency and accountability in the education sector, urging Mr. Issahaku and all involved parties to comply with the investigative procedure.
